About Mark Castillero
Mark Castillero, was born and raised in California. He began his own dog - training business, Pro-Train, in 1978 — just two years after graduating from the University of California at Davis with a bachelor’s degree in animal science and a concentration in animal behavior. What started out as a small company has grown into a rewarding, successful and profitable company that trains approximately 150 dogs per year.
Castillero has more than 40 years of experience training more than 9,000 dogs, from professional protection canines to service dogs to house pets. His industry credentials and experiences are numerous, including being a training specialist in behavior modification and protection and an animal behavior specialist, as well as working as a veterinary technician and an experienced kennel manager. Mark is the founder and general manager of the California Kennel Association; has judged police canine competition, is a California state-licensed guide dog instructor; served as vice president of the International Tosa Ken Association, was a certified specialist in Gifted Animal Placemen, is a member of International Association of Canine Professionals, was an animal evaluator who certified therapy dogs, and much more. He was also responsible for implementing the State of California Apprenticeship Program for dog trainer certification. Now, in addition to running his business, Castillero fills his time by mentoring aspiring dog trainers and traveling the United States and beyond as a seminar speaker. In his downtime, you can find him riding one of his motorcycles in California and beyond or practicing martial arts.
